“It’s a dream realized”: The star player shares a childhood photo after signing with the Toronto Blue Jays…

Joey Votto turned to social media to express that dreams do indeed come true, following his official signing with his hometown team, the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Toronto franchise announced on Saturday that they had reached an agreement with Votto on a minor league contract, extending an invitation to the first baseman to join spring training this year. However, the specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The next day, Votto celebrated the announcement by posting a nostalgic photo on Instagram. The picture featured him as an infant wearing a bib adorned with the words ‘I’m a little Blue Jay’ and the team’s logo.

“I’ve aspired to play here ever since I was sporting a #BlueJays bib,” Votto expressed in a statement posted on X through the Blue Jays’ page.

The 40-year-old further emphasized his enduring support for the Jays by recalling significant moments in the team’s history, such as their victory over the Atlanta Braves in the 1992 World Series Championship and winning the series again the following year when Joe Carter hit his walk-off home run against the Philadelphia Phillies.

“Those were the most thrilling moments of my childhood,” Votto remarked. “The thought of returning with the chance to potentially contribute to a team with championship ambitions… it’s a dream come true.”
