Otto Porter Jr., who was recently waived by the Utah Jazz, has announced his retirement from the NBA after completing 11 seasons in the league.
“After enjoying 11 fulfilling years in the NBA, I’ve had the opportunity to live out my lifelong dream,” Porter stated. “That dream culminated in winning an NBA championship in 2022 with the Golden State Warriors. Unfortunately, due to physical limitations preventing me from performing at the level I expect of myself, I have made the decision to retire.”
Porter, aged 30, did not make any appearances for the Jazz, following his brief stint with the Toronto Raptors this season, where he averaged 2.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in 15 games. He was part of a trade on Feb. 8, along with Kira Lewis Jr. and a first-round draft pick, in exchange for Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji.
Drafted as the third overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft, Porter also played for the Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls, and Orlando Magic throughout his career, boasting averages of 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds across 527 games, including 319 starts.
