The Seattle Seahawks are set to have new inside linebackers on the field for the 2024 season, both signed to one-year contracts.
As previously mentioned, Jerome Baker, a former starter for the Miami Dolphins, has a Seahawks cap hit of $6.77 million, potentially reaching $7 million if he participates in every regular-season game. Meanwhile, Tyrel Dodson, previously with the Buffalo Bills, has a slightly different contract structure.
According to OverTheCap.com, Dodson’s one-year deal is valued at $4.26 million, inclusive of a $1 million signing bonus. He also receives a per-game roster bonus of $760,000, along with an additional $250,000 workout bonus for attending offseason workouts. The notable difference lies in Dodson’s non-guaranteed base salary of $2.25 million, in contrast to Baker’s fully guaranteed base salary of $2,022,500. This variance isn’t surprising considering Dodson’s previous season where he was thrust into starting roles, unlike Baker, who boasts 93 career starts.
Dodson’s cap charge precisely matches his contract value at $4.26 million, making his deal straightforward. Should he fail to meet expectations in Seattle, the Seahawks could recoup $3.26 million if they decide to part ways with him. Conversely, Baker is a significant component of Seattle’s plans, having received a $4 million signing bonus alongside a fully guaranteed salary.
