The Washington Capitals revealed that defenseman Rasmus Sandin has a lower-body injury and will be absent from their Saturday night match against the Boston Bruins.
The 24-year-old defenseman logged 22 minutes and 21 seconds of ice time in the Capitals’ recent match, which ended in a 5-1 defeat to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday.
Sandin has recorded three goals and 20 assists, totaling 23 points in 64 games this season.
Originally selected as the 29th overall pick by the Maple Leafs in the 2018 draft, Sandin spent nearly five seasons within the Maple Leafs’ organization, accumulating 10 goals and 38 assists for 48 points across 140 games. Following his trade to the Capitals last season, he has tallied six goals and 32 assists, amounting to 38 points in 83 games.
Throughout his career spanning 223 games, he has amassed 16 goals and 70 assists, accumulating a total of 86 points.
As of now, the Capitals hold a record of 36 wins, 27 losses, and 9 overtime losses, securing 81 points. They currently rank fourth in the Metropolitan Division and are positioned second in the Wild Card race.
