The Green Bay Packers and Christian Watson are enjoying a celebratory off-season. News surfaced yesterday about the star wide receiver marking a significant date, one that will be cherished for a lifetime.
NFL star Christian Watson has officially tied the knot! The 24-year-old wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers exchanged vows with his longtime partner, Lakyn Adkins, in a destination wedding held at the private Stone Mountain Estates in Malibu, California, last Friday. The couple’s special day was attended by 85 guests, including singer Jordin Sparks and several of Watson’s teammates such as Jordan Love, De’Vondre Campbell, Aaron Jones, Bo Melton, Josiah Deguara, Samori Toure, and Romeo Doubs.
Watson expressed to PEOPLE magazine that he and Adkins were drawn to the idea of getting married in Malibu, and upon visiting their venue, Stone Mountain Estates, they instantly knew it was the perfect setting for their celebration. Adkins, aged 25, emphasized that their main goal for the two-day event, which included a welcome party at Cambria Calabasas, was to create a memorable and entertaining experience for their guests.
The couple enlisted the help of wedding planner Tori Perano from Passera Events to coordinate their special day. Watson, who was occupied with football commitments, entrusted Adkins to take the lead in the planning process, providing input on specific elements that were important to him for their wedding.
Throughout his relatively brief career, Watson has grappled with persistent hamstring injuries, limiting him to just 11 starts in 2022 and nine in 2023. This off-season, he has taken drastic measures to address these issues. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Coach Matt LaFleur revealed that Watson visited a specialized lab in Madison with the aim of finding a solution to his injury concerns.
LaFleur stated, as reported by Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, “They’ve got some special lab there or whatever that all the medical guys can give you the better diagnosis on [Watson]. But yeah, we’ve looked at a lot of different things in terms of just his body comp and maybe areas that were stronger than others to try to help get us in front of that.”
Should Watson successfully recover and maintain his health, he possesses the potential to significantly impact the Packers’ offensive performance.
