The Sydney Roosters and Manly Sea Eagles are entering the chase for Brisbane Broncos’ standout, Kotoni Staggs!

While Kotoni Staggs may not be available for negotiations until November 1 due to his contract running through 2025, that hasn’t stopped the buzz around potential suitors lining up for him.

Although Brisbane would prefer to secure Staggs before the November deadline, it’s not a sure thing. The Broncos are facing salary cap challenges, having recently re-signed players like Payne Haas, Ezra Mam, Jordan Riki, and Brendan Piakura, while also having long-term deals with Patrick Carrigan and Deine Mariner.

Another pressing concern for Brisbane is retaining star Queensland State of Origin fullback Reece Walsh, who’s also off-contract at the end of 2025. Unlike Staggs, Walsh is reportedly close to finalizing a deal worth over $1 million per season, expected to be signed before the November 1 deadline.

The cost to retain Staggs remains uncertain but likely exceeds Brisbane’s budget. News Corp reports that both the Sydney Roosters and Manly Sea Eagles are interested, especially as the Roosters face departures in their backline and Manly considers roster changes.

The Dolphins were also rumored to be contenders for Staggs, but recent reports suggest they might withdraw from the race, given their signing of Herbie Farnworth and an already crowded backline.

As for Staggs’ preference for his next contract, it remains a mystery.
