Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has returned to the football field shortly after surrendering to Dallas police following a car accident that left several people injured.

Rice posted a video on his Instagram Stories showing him running routes and practicing at a training facility, along with pictures from the weight room.

Earlier in the week, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had stated that Rice would participate in remote practices during Phase 1 of the team’s voluntary offseason program and join virtual meetings.

The first phase of the program, which lasts two weeks, focuses on meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehab, as outlined by the NFL.

Rashee Rice faces charges including one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury. According to Dallas Police, their investigation revealed that the 23-year-old was speeding on a Dallas highway, resulting in the loss of control and the subsequent crash.
Following the March 30th crash, two injured individuals filed a lawsuit against Rice and SMU wide receiver Theodore Knox. The lawsuit alleges negligence and was lodged in Dallas County, Texas, seeking over $1 million in punitive damages.
On Monday, Coach Reid commented that he wasn’t certain about Rice’s future with the team but remains open-minded about the situation.

“Absolutely, the crucial thing is that he learns from this experience. We’re currently gathering all the information and ensuring we’ve covered all aspects. We’ll see where things go from here,” Reid commented.
