Carlton defender Adam Saad will miss six weeks due to a hamstring injury he sustained during their surprising AFL defeat to Adelaide.
Although the hamstring injuries to Mitch McGovern and Adam Cerra are less serious, losing Saad is a significant blow for the Blues due to the valuable rebounding he provides from half-back.
Carlton faces a difficult series of upcoming games, beginning with the league-leading GWS this Saturday at Marvel Stadium. The schedule continues with an undefeated Geelong team, then matchups against arch-rivals Collingwood, Melbourne, and a challenging away game in Sydney.
Saad was forced off the field during last Saturday’s game at Marvel Stadium, where the Crows secured a two-point victory.
This marked Carlton’s first defeat of the season.
Additionally, McGovern suffered a hamstring injury towards the end of the match against the Crows, and Cerra had to withdraw at the last minute due to a similar issue after sustaining an injury during training.
However, in their weekly injury update, the Blues stated that McGovern and Cerra are expected to be sidelined for just one to two weeks.
They are among 13 players currently on Carlton’s extensive injury list.
