The 2023 reserve quarterback for L.A. appears to have shifted in the team’s pecking order.

Do the Los Angeles Rams have a Stetson Bennett problem?

We may be wildly speculating by interpreting some social media tea leaves, but allow us this indulgence, won’t you?

Quarterback Stetson Bennett (13)

This week, L.A. shared a photo of two quarterbacks on its X account, captioned simply “QBs” along with a flexed bicep emoji.

It appears that in the recent image posted by L.A., backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who previously started in Super Bowl LIV, was featured alongside Pro Bowl starter Matthew Stafford. Notably absent from the photo was Stetson Bennett. With Garoppolo set to miss the first two games of the 2024 season due to a PED violation, there’s a potential opportunity for Bennett to step up as Stafford’s primary backup early in the year.

Bennett’s journey from a walk-on and junior college quarterback to winning two national titles with the Georgia Bulldogs and earning recognition as a Heisman Trophy finalist and CFP Offensive MVP twice is remarkable. Although drafted by the Rams in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Bennett spent much of the previous season on the reserve/non-football illness list and didn’t see significant playing time. Now, questions arise regarding his future with the team’s 53-man roster.
