The Falcons are bolstering their offensive line with some veteran depth as they head into training camp. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports that the team is signing tackle Julien Davenport to their 90-man roster. The details of any corresponding roster move have not been disclosed.
Davenport was initially drafted by the Houston Texans in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Over two seasons with the Texans, he started 19 games, demonstrating his potential as a reliable offensive lineman. He then moved on to the Miami Dolphins, where he made nine starts over the next two seasons. In 2021, Davenport had four starts with the Indianapolis Colts. However, he has not played in an NFL game since then. This year, he kept active by playing for the UFL’s San Antonio Brahmas.
For the upcoming season, the Falcons are expected to start Jake Matthews at left tackle and Kaleb McGary at right tackle. The addition of Davenport provides experienced backup and competition, which could be crucial for the team’s offensive line stability as they gear up for the season.
