Infielder Jean Segura, a seasoned 12-year major league player, has joined the Baltimore Orioles on a minor league contract to support their playoff push.

At 34 years old, Segura has been inactive for over a year after being released by the Cleveland Guardians on August 1, 2023, without appearing in a game for them. He played 85 games with the Miami Marlins in 2023, hitting .219 with three home runs and 21 RBIs.

The two-time All-Star has spent most of his 1,413-game career at shortstop and has a .281 career batting average with 110 home runs and 513 RBIs, having played for six teams, including notable stints with the Milwaukee Brewers (2012-15) and Philadelphia Phillies (2019-22).

As of Saturday, the Orioles were leading the American League East, holding a slim half-game advantage over the New York Yankees.
