The Jets have added TE Neal Johnson and LB Anthony Hines to their roster while parting ways with LB Jimmy Ciarlo and CB Myles Jones.
Johnson (6-4, 250), who went undrafted in 2024, initially joined the Rams in May but was waived in early August. Before turning pro, Johnson played five seasons at Louisiana, appearing in 59 games and earning All-Sun Belt Conference honorable mention in 2022. During his final college season, he caught 30 passes for 383 yards and 5 touchdowns, including 3 scores in the last 3 weeks.
Hines (6-3, 226) signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2021 but did not make the team. He later joined the Rams on a reserves/future contract in 2022 and spent the past two years on and off their practice squad. He played three seasons at Texas A&M from 2017-2019, sitting out the 2020 season. In his last year with the Aggies, Hines tallied 73 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss in 13 games.
Ciarlo (6-2, 225) joined the Jets as an undrafted free agent from Army in May. He saw limited action with 4 special teams snaps against the Commanders but was sidelined with a knee injury in the third quarter.
Jones (6-4, 194) also came to the Jets as an undrafted free agent in May and did not see action in the preseason opener. He spent four seasons at Texas A&M before transferring to Duke for the 2023 season.
