Nick Robertson of the Toronto Maple Leafs has requested a trade, and one proposed deal suggests sending him to the Philadelphia Flyers. Robertson, currently a restricted free agent and yet to sign a new contract, could be traded as part of a multi-player exchange.
The suggested trade would involve the Maple Leafs acquiring Scott Laughton from the Flyers, while Philadelphia would receive Robertson and a 2027 third-round pick. Laughton, who has two years remaining on his five-year, $15 million contract, would likely slot into Toronto’s third-line center position, potentially shifting Max Domi to the wing and enhancing the team’s lineup.
Laughton, who has been with the Flyers since the 2012-13 season after being drafted in the first round of the 2012 NHL Draft, scored 13 goals and 26 assists for 39 points in 82 games last season. Robertson, who scored 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points in 56 games last season, would have the opportunity for a larger role with the Flyers, potentially as a top-six forward.

Laughton’s name had surfaced in trade rumors at the 2024 NHL trade deadline, but he remained with the Flyers, expressing his contentment with staying in Philadelphia. Throughout his career, Laughton has played 601 NHL games, accumulating 95 goals and 143 assists.
Robertson, drafted in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft, has indicated he does not intend to re-sign with the Maple Leafs after his entry-level contract expires, according to NHL insider Chris Johnston.
Robertson has struggled to secure a consistent role with the Toronto Maple Leafs, often being either a healthy scratch or not given the significant role he believes he deserves.
