“Richmond’s Trade Drama: Three Players Demand Exits—Crisis or Strategy?”

The Richmond Tigers have confirmed that three players—Shai Bolton, Daniel Rioli, and Liam Baker—have requested trades to join other clubs for the 2025 season.

Bolton and Rioli are still under contract with Richmond, with Bolton tied to the Tigers until the end of 2028 and Rioli until 2027. Despite their current contracts, both players have expressed a desire to move. Bolton and Baker are seeking opportunities in Western Australia, while Rioli is aiming for a transfer to the Gold Coast Suns.

Trade, keep or move on? What should the Tigers do with Baker, Martin, Bolton, Rioli and co.?

Baker, who is uncontracted for the next season, has also requested a trade and wishes to play in the west. Richmond’s General Manager of Football and Performance, Blair Hartley, stated that the club will work to find suitable deals for all three players, although the specifics of potential trade destinations for Bolton and Baker are still uncertain. Hartley emphasized the club’s commitment to negotiating fair trades and ensuring appropriate compensation.

The AFL trade period begins on October 7, and the Tigers, who finished the season in last place, are looking to navigate this transition period effectively.
