Giants Sign Former Packers Kicker as New Starter After Injury!

NFL News: Greg Joseph Joins New York Giants

With the conclusion of the NFL season’s first two weeks, teams are preparing for their Week 3 matchups.

This Sunday, the Packers will travel to take on the Tennessee Titans, where they currently stand at 1-1. Former players are actively looking for new opportunities in the NFL, even though their primary focus is still on this game.

An opening with the New York Giants was acquired by a former kicker for the Packers on Tuesday.

The New York Giants are signing kicker Greg Joseph to their active roster from the Detroit Lions‘ practice squad, according to his agent, Brett Tessler.

Joseph spent the summer with the Packers, competing against Anders Carlson for the starting kicker position. During the preseason, he successfully made 3 of 4 field goal attempts, but the Packers ultimately released both him and Carlson, opting instead to claim Brayden Narveson off waivers, who has since been the starter for the first two weeks.

The Giants were in need of a kicker after Graham Gano suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2 and is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks.

In his five-year career, Joseph has played for the Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, and Cleveland Browns. He has converted 146 of 162 extra point attempts (90.1%) and 100 of 121 field goal attempts, with a 71% touchback rate.

Although he couldn’t secure a spot with the Packers, Joseph has successfully found a new opportunity for the 2024 season.
