AFL Media’s Josh Gabelich discussed on Insider Trading the potential move of Hawthorn key defender Sam Frost to the Sydney Swans. The 31-year-old is facing increased competition for a spot, as free agent Josh Battle has chosen the Hawks, and Tom Barrass has requested a trade to Hawthorn from the West Coast Eagles.
With Paddy McCartin sidelined due to concussion issues, the Swans are in need of additional tall defensive options. On SEN Breakfast, AFL Media’s Cal Twomey noted that Sydney is among several clubs showing interest in Frost.
“They’ve expressed interest in Sam Frost. His situation is interesting with the Hawks acquiring both Tom Barrass and Josh Battle,” Twomey said. “This raises questions about Frost’s future. He is contracted for next year after triggering an extension for 2025, but it’s uncertain how this will affect his role in the defensive lineup.”
