The Miami Dolphins are grappling with increasing quarterback injuries, prompting speculation about a potential reunion with a former player. Starter Tua Tagovailoa is sidelined indefinitely due to a concussion sustained in the September 12 game against the Buffalo Bills, and backup Skylar Thompson exited Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks with a chest injury early in the third quarter, leaving new addition Tim Boyle to finish the game. Thompson had a solid performance prior to his injury, completing 13 of 19 passes for 107 yards without any touchdowns or interceptions. In light of these developments, some are suggesting the Dolphins consider signing free agent Ryan Tannehill, the ex-Dolphins starter who remains available after his $118 million contract with the Tennessee Titans ended.
“If the Dolphins believe Tim Boyle, Skylar Thompson, and Tyler Huntley can manage until Tua returns, their season is finished,” reporter Zach Brook stated on X. “They should reach out to Ryan Tannehill.”
Tannehill has indicated his desire to return to the NFL for another season but wants to hold out for the right opportunity.
