Romeo Doubs, a receiver for the Green Bay Packers, was not happy with his role in the passing game, so he skipped practice on Thursday and Friday, according to sources that Packers On SI cited. His absence has made him officially doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Doubs’s condition is still “day-to-day,” according to coach Matt LaFleur.

Though Doubs practiced on Wednesday, he missed the next few days, so the team sent someone to see how he was doing at home. Even though he only trails Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks by two targets on the team with 20, Dougs has voiced his displeasure with his opportunities. At five targets per game this season, he is on pace to reach 85 targets overall, not far from the team-high 96 targets he registered the previous year.

Doubs was expected to play more because Christian Watson was sidelined due to an ankle injury. But unlike last year, he has not scored this season and has not played as much in red-zone situations. While Doubs works through his frustration, LaFleur must strike a balance between his player’s needs and the dynamics of the team as a whole.

In the past, the Packers’ receiving group has prospered by emphasizing mutual support among themselves. Despite the demands of individual performance and the possibility of contract negotiations for both Watson and himself, Doubs recognized the value of retaining this mindset.
