The Seattle Seahawks added former Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick Artie Burns to their active roster on Thursday night ahead of their game against the San Francisco 49ers. This marks Burns’ first appearance this season with the Seahawks, although he has been part of the organization for three years.

Burns originally joined the Seahawks during Pete Carroll‘s tenure as head coach, and new head coach Mike Macdonald has retained him for his strong man coverage skills. In the game against the 49ers, he recorded a pass breakup and two tackles, primarily contributing on special teams while also stepping in on defense.

A 2016 first-round selection by the Steelers out of Miami (FL), Burns played four seasons with the team before they declined his fifth-year option, allowing him to enter free agency. Over his career, he has tallied four interceptions and 195 total tackles. After his time in Pittsburgh, Burns spent two seasons with the Chicago Bears.
