Three days before the Minnesota Wild‘s 2024–25 season begins at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team signed goalie Jesper Wallstedt to a two-year, $4.4 million contract extension.
The 21-year-old Wallstedt’s entry-level contract will expire this season, and the extension will start in the 2025–2026 campaign.
In three games, all on the road, he recorded a 2.1-0 record with an.897 save percentage and a 3.01 goals-against average while making his NHL debut for the Wild last season.
In a 4-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on April 7, Wallstedt recorded his first win and shutout to become the youngest goalie in Wild history. He made his debut on January 10 in a loss to the Dallas Stars.
Originally from Sweden, Minnesota chose Wallstedt with the 20th overall pick in the opening round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
