The situation with Haason Reddick and the New York Jets took a new turn on Tuesday. Just before the team made a major trade for Davante Adams, it was reported that they would allow Reddick to seek a trade.

According to Dianna Russini from The Athletic, Reddick and his new agent, Drew Rosenhaus, have been given a “short window” to explore trade options. Rosenhaus has been actively assessing interest from potential suitors over the past 12 hours.

Reddick has been holding out for a new contract since being traded to the Jets from the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason and previously requested a trade in August. With six weeks into the NFL season, he remains steadfast in his demands. Despite the tumultuous and public nature of the situation, there may still be teams interested in acquiring him.

Reddick is a proven pass rusher with 27 sacks over the last two years. While he needs to get back into game shape, teams looking for pass-rushing depth should consider him. The Jets might be particularly motivated to trade him after giving up a conditional third-round pick for Adams.

Here are some potential destinations for Reddick:

The NFL’s Detroit Lions
Discussions about Reddick will probably touch on the Lions, particularly in light of the loss of their best edge rusher, Aidan Hutchinson, to a serious leg injury. Earlier, they also lost Marcus Davenport to injury. Josh Paschal and James Houston are two players who could step up, but the Lions want to make the playoffs, so they might look for a more dependable option. Though there are worries about the attention that Reddick might draw, general manager Brad Holmes has the ability to trade a mid-round pick for him, and he could be a valuable addition for a contender.

Bengals from Cincinnati
Despite a recent victory, the Bengals, now 2–4, are having a disappointing season under Joe Burrow. Despite possessing exceptional pass rusher Trey Hendrickson, their defensive line has not performed well, recording only eight sacks in six games. Reddick would not solve every problem for them, but he could strengthen their defense, which is a weakness as they try to get better quickly before the playoffs pass them by.

Falcons of Atlanta
With Matthew Judon acquired in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick, the Falcons, who are 4-0 and leading the NFC South, appear unlikely to make another trade. Instead, they have committed to a pass rusher. With Judon only contributing 1.5 sacks this season, they are last in the league in terms of total sacks. They could use Reddick’s assistance as they fully commit to this season if he can be obtained for a late-round pick.

The Kansas City Chiefs.
Even though their defense has not been the biggest problem, the Chiefs, who have only nine sacks in five games, rank near the bottom in terms of pass rush efficiency and could use some improvement. Although Reddick could improve their defense—especially since Charles Omenihu is still recovering from an injury—Chris Jones is still a formidable force. The Chiefs are in a position to take a risk on a player like Reddick, potentially only needing him to shine in the postseason as they aim for another championship.
