According to 247Sports, Oscar Goodman, a 6-foot-7 forward from the NBA Global Academy, has committed to the Michigan Wolverines under coach Dusty May.
The New Zealand native chose Michigan over several prominent programs, including Texas Tech, Georgetown, and Ohio State.
“I picked Michigan because of Coach May’s successful track record and his belief in my ability to contribute right away,” Goodman explained. “Michigan offers all the resources and opportunities I need to advance my basketball career.”
He noted the positive culture within the program, saying, “Coach May and his staff are building something special. After speaking with players during my visit, I saw a shared desire to win, which is exactly what I was looking for. I’m grateful to all the programs that hosted me and my parents, but I believe Michigan is the best fit for my development.”
Goodman stands out among international recruits, having impressed at the NBA Academies and during the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup, where he averaged 17.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists while shooting 47.3% from the field and 30.0% from three-point range.
Described as a strong and versatile player, Goodman has a high basketball IQ, is adept at ball-handling, can shoot from distance, and excels in rebounding and facilitating plays.
At 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds, Goodman is an agile athlete with good mobility, making him a valuable addition for Coach May in the coming years.
He also emphasized the academic excellence at Michigan, stating, “It’s one of the best academic institutions in the world, providing the right environment for my growth both on and off the court. I’m really excited for my next chapter with Michigan basketball!”
Goodman becomes Michigan’s second commitment for the 2025 recruiting class, joining four-star wing Winters Grady.
