The Patriots are struggling as a rebuilding team, which means New England should consider making trades before the NFL deadline.
Jerod Mayo’s squad is lacking talent, making it challenging for Eliot Wolf and his team to acquire new assets by November 5. However, there are a few players who could be valuable trade candidates.
Joshua Uche is among them, which is why he has been mentioned in trade rumors recently. Ahead of New England’s Week 8 game against the New York Jets, Uche spoke with ESPN’s Mike Reiss about the speculation.
“Ultimately, I’m an employee of the Patriots, and if they believe trading me is in their best interest, I trust they’ll make that move. If there’s a chance for them to plan for the future, I know they’ll take it,” Uche said.
“There are a lot of rumors circulating, and the media often has information before I do. We’ll see which rumors turn out to be true, but one thing is certain: wherever I end up, I’m going to play great football. It is what it is.”
Uche surprised many in the offseason by reportedly turning down more lucrative offers to sign a one-year deal to remain with New England. The 26-year-old chose a short-term contract to show his loyalty to the Patriots organization, but he recognizes that the NFL is primarily a business.
