In order to prepare for the delisted free agency and draft periods, Hawthorn has finalized its roster and made a decision regarding Joshua Bennett, a young player.

Along with Denver Grainger-Barras, Cooper Stephens, Jack O’Sullivan, Ethan Phillips, and Clay Tucker, the Category B rookie was delisted prior to the October 31 deadline for list submission.

Despite his impressive VFL performances, Bennett failed to establish himself in the senior squad after joining Hawthorn in 2022. He played 33 games for Box Hill during his two years with the team, but in 2024 he sustained a serious shoulder injury.

Mark McKenzie of Hawthorn’s National Recruiting and List Manager praised Bennett’s efforts. “During his time at Hawthorn, Josh was a cherished teammate who showed great character and commitment,” McKenzie remarked. “We thank him for his service and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

During the trade and free agency period, Hawthorn also added Josh Battle and Tom Barrass, two crucial defenders. The club now has 40 players on its list, with up to four spots available across primary and rookie categories. Furthermore, in the forthcoming National Draft, coach Sam Mitchell and his staff own picks 33, 71, and 77.
