Despite the setback, Davis was back on the court the following night, aiding the Lakers in their victory over the Atlanta Hawks. When questioned about the severity of his injury after the game, Davis offered a vague response, stating he was undergoing examination and awaiting further details.
His remarks were somewhat elusive, leaving reporters curious about the specifics of his condition.
Davis elaborated to Dave McMenamin, noting the abrasion was centered in his eye and likening the sensation to his eye being “torn open.”
Although he managed to return to action against the Hawks, his decision to withhold detailed information regarding the injury adds an element of mystery.
The Lakers rely heavily on Davis’ presence alongside LeBron James for optimal performance, and his absence during most of the Warriors game highlighted the importance of his health. Despite his return, the team is keen on securing victories to avoid the playoff play-in tournament.
