The Las Vegas Raiders are overhauling their offensive line this offseason, having already parted ways with Jermaine Eluemunor. Additionally, they’ve announced the release of offensive guard D.J. Fluker on April 5th.
Fluker was part of the team’s practice squad last season but did not see any game time. Although he was signed to a reserve/futures contract this offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders have decided to pursue a different path. It’s worth mentioning that Fluker holds significance as the first first-round pick selected by general manager Tom Telesco during his tenure with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2013.
Selected as the No. 11 pick in 2013, Fluker failed to fulfill the expectations associated with his draft position. Telesco released him in 2017, leading Fluker to play for various teams in the league since then. His last NFL game was in 2020 with the Baltimore Ravens.
Given his potential role as a depth player for the Raiders, it’s not unexpected that they’re parting ways with him. With the arrival of new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, the team is likely making changes to the offensive line, and Fluker may no longer fit into their plans.
