Breaking News: Seahawks engaged in talks with a versatile defensive lineman…

The 2024 NFL Draft is drawing near, set to take place in less than three weeks. The Seattle Seahawks, along with other NFL teams, are wrapping up their pre-draft meetings with potential prospects as they aim to solidify their individual draft rankings. Recently, they engaged in virtual discussions with Jonah Laulu, a multifaceted defensive lineman from Oklahoma.

Laulu embarked on his college journey at Hawaii in 2019, spending his initial three seasons with the university. During this time, he tallied 70 total tackles and notched eight sacks. In 2022, he made the move to Oklahoma for his final two collegiate seasons.

There, he contributed 31 tackles and two and a half sacks, establishing himself as a key defensive figure for the Sooners.

His adaptability stands out as a prime asset for NFL teams. With experience both on the edge and in the interior, most teams are likely to categorize him as an interior defensive lineman, capable of playing both three-tech and five-tech positions.

Standing at an imposing 6’5″ and weighing 292 lbs, with an impressive arm length of 33.5 inches, he is bound to attract the attention of multiple teams.

Furthermore, his exceptional athletic performance adds to his appeal. Laulu clocked an impressive 4.96-second 40-yard dash, complemented by a 36-inch vertical leap and a 9’10” broad jump.

Projections place Laulu as a late selection on day three of the draft or possibly even as a priority undrafted free agent. However, his outstanding athletic abilities could prompt a team to use a late draft pick on him to secure his services before facing competition in the undrafted free agency market.
