Breaking News: Raiders are close to finalizing a deal with a young QB…

The Las Vegas Raiders are openly interested in acquiring a young quarterback, though they have not disclosed their exact strategy for doing so. With their first draft pick at No. 13, securing one of the top quarterback prospects would likely necessitate a move up the draft order.

Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports that this is precisely what the Raiders intend to do.

In an April 11 column, Tafur noted, “The Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback, a fourth-round draft pick from the previous year, ended up starting 10 games. Under interim coach Antonio Pierce, the team concluded the season by winning three of their last four games, with O’Connell throwing eight touchdowns and no interceptions.”

“The primary focus for the Raiders heading into the upcoming NFL Draft is their quest for a quarterback. They hold the 13th pick and are looking to trade up,” is a common point of discussion.

It’s likely that LSU’s Jayden Daniels is a key target for the team, given his prior connection with head coach Antonio Pierce, who was his recruiting coordinator at Arizona State. With the draft approaching quickly, time is running short for the Raiders to execute a trade, making this a situation to keep an eye on.
