Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is charged in connection with a six-car crash in Dallas, which he allegedly caused while participating in street racing. As the legal proceedings unfold, the NFL is said to be considering taking disciplinary action against Rice as a potential warning to others.
Rice, who is 23 years old, faces six charges of collision involving bodily injury, one charge of collision involving serious bodily injury, and one aggravated charge following the March 30 crash. The Chiefs’ receiver has admitted to driving the Lamborghini that was part of the hit-and-run incident on the North Central Expressway in Dallas.
Additional information has surfaced regarding Rice’s actions leading to the accident and the contents found in his vehicle. An affidavit obtained by CBS News reveals that Rice’s Lamborghini was traveling at 119 mph before he lost control and crashed in an area with a posted speed limit of 70 mph.
After the crash, Rice and his companions fled the scene on foot without contacting authorities or checking on the crash victims. Upon searching the vehicles, law enforcement discovered 10.8 grams of marijuana in Rice’s Lamborghini. Furthermore, Rice did not reach out to law enforcement until 48 hours after the incident.
While the NFL has refrained from taking action against Rice, opting to let the legal proceedings unfold, once the legal process concludes, the Chiefs’ star receiver could potentially face a substantial suspension from the league.
