The top team in the league experienced only their second defeat of the season, as Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard scored in the second half at Emirates Stadium.

arse Liverpool suffered a 3-1 defeat...

Liverpool found themselves trailing early in the match as Bukayo Saka scored in the 17th minute. However, they equalized just before the end of the first half with an own goal credited to Gabriel.

In the 67th minute, Martinelli restored the lead for the home team, and towards the end of the match, Trossard secured the victory after the visitors were reduced to 10 players following Ibrahima  Konate’s second bookable offense and subsequent sending-off.

The match began with both teams having chances in front of goal in a back-and-forth fashion.

Diogo Jota and Gakpo posed a threat for Liverpool, and Saka missed a header from inside the six-yard box during a counter-attack before eventually scoring the opening goal.

Martin Odegaard’s lofted pass sent Kai Havertz through on goal. Alisson Becker managed to save Havertz’s initial shot, but the rebound favored Saka, who forcefully struck the ball into the net, giving the hosts the lead.

Liverpool’s reaction was moderately positive, with Alexander-Arnold sending a dangerous ball into the box that Gakpo almost redirected towards the goal. Virgil van Dijk also came close to scoring from a corner.

During the closing moments of the first half, Gabriel had an impact on both sides of the pitch. Following a curled shot that Alisson blocked after a free-kick, the Arsenal center-half unintentionally scored an own goal, leveling the game at 1-1.

Luis Diaz continued to press on as William Saliba attempted to guide Gravenberch’s pass into the grasp of goalkeeper David Raya. Despite the defensive efforts, the Colombian managed to sneak a toe onto the ball, causing it to hit Gabriel’s hand and roll into the net.

Second half

Liverpool started the second half with great intensity, and Curtis Jones came very close to giving his team the lead with a curled shot that had eluded Raya.

Arsenal regained momentum in the game, and the match took on a more balanced tone. However, their claims for a penalty were dismissed when Alexis Mac Allister impeded Martinelli’s advance into the box.

However, they managed to regain their lead in the middle of the second half.

Jakub Kiwior missed a prime opportunity to give the Gunners a two-goal lead, directing his header straight at Alisson while being unmarked in the box. The Reds swiftly launched a counter-attack, but Darwin Nunez shot over the goal from a difficult angle.

A positive note for the away team was Thiago Alcantara coming off the bench for his inaugural appearance of the season. However, they ended the game with a numerical disadvantage following Konate’s dismissal.

The disappointing afternoon reached its conclusion in the 93rd minute when Trossard’s shot from inside the area deflected off Van Dijk, ultimately eluding Alisson.
