Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is heading into his second NFL season, learning his second offense under his third head coach, Dave Canales. Despite these changes, Canales is pleased with Young’s progress this offseason.

Asked about Young’s grasp of the new playbook, Canales praised his understanding of the Panthers’ offense.

“He’s doing fantastic with it,” Canales said.

After the Panthers’ first voluntary full-team offseason practice, Canales noted Young’s mastery of the coaching staff’s teachings.

“As I expect him to do, he’s really mastering that part of it,” Canales added. “So, really pleased.”

Young struggled in his rookie year, with the Panthers winning only two games and finishing with the worst record in the NFL. He didn’t perform as expected for a first overall pick, and it’s now Canales’s job to help him improve. So far, Canales believes they’re on the right track.
