The teams, in collaboration with Formula One Management and the governing FIA, have concurred to rearrange the sessions during sprint weekends. This involves having one free practice on Friday, followed by a sprint qualifying ‘shootout’.

The 100-kilometer race is scheduled to take place on Saturday morning, preceding the qualifying session for the main Grand Prix on Sunday

In the previous year, the Grand Prix qualifying occurred on Friday, while sprint qualifying and the separate race occupied Saturday’s agenda.

The proposed modifications will be presented to the FIA’s World Motorsport Council on February 28 for official approval. The 24-race season, commencing in Bahrain on March 2, includes six designated weekends for sprint events.

During the London meeting, the Commission also reached a consensus to raise the power unit allocation to four per driver for both the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

The activation of the drag reduction system (DRS) during the race will occur one lap after the start instead of two, according to REUTERS.
