The West Coast Eagles have confirmed contract extensions for two promising rookies, Archer Reid and Loch Rawlinson. Reid, a young forward from the Gippsland Power who was selected with Pick 30 in last year’s AFL Draft, has secured a two-year extension that will keep him at the club until the end of 2027. Despite yet to make his senior debut, Reid has made a notable impact in the WAFL, scoring 17 goals in 15 games this season.
Rawlinson, who joined the Eagles as the first overall pick in last year’s Rookie Draft from SANFL club Sturt, has been granted a one-year extension through to the 2025 season. The 19-year-old made his AFL debut in Round 4 against Sydney and has quickly become a valued member of the team.
Both players have expressed enthusiasm about their future with the Eagles. Reid, looking forward to his debut and the chance to contribute to the team’s growth, emphasized his commitment to the club and his excitement to continue working with Rawlinson. Meanwhile, Rawlinson has praised the supportive environment and is eager to see what lies ahead for both himself and the team.
These extensions are part of a broader strategy by the Eagles to secure their young talent, following similar moves for players such as Harry Barnett, Tyrell Dewar, Liam Duggan, Clay Hall, Harvey Johnston, Ryan Maric, Liam Ryan, Bailey J. Williams, and Jack Williams, all of whom have recently signed new deals to stay with the club.
