Ex-Packers QB’s Bold Remark Slams Panthers’ Disastrous Performance

Kurt Benkert Takes a Jab at Panthers’ Struggles: “I Could’ve Given Them 30 Losses in 2 Years for a Better Price”

Bryce Young warms up before a game

Kurt Benkert, a former undrafted quarterback with a largely unremarkable NFL career, took to social media to poke fun at the Carolina Panthers’ ongoing woes. Following the Panthers’ 47-10 drubbing by the New Orleans Saints, Benkert tweeted that he “could have given the Panthers 30 losses in 2 years for a way better discount.”

Benkert, who signed with the Atlanta Falcons in 2018 and had brief stints with the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers before retiring last year, seems to have little sympathy for Carolina’s struggles. After a dismal 2-15 season last year, the Panthers hoped for a turnaround with new head coach Dave Canales, but Week 1 saw no improvement. Rookie quarterback Bryce Young had a rough outing, going 13/30 for 161 yards with two interceptions.

While Young has time to turn things around, Benkert’s comment underscores the growing frustration with the Panthers’ inability to find success. If Benkert’s career is any indicator, the Panthers’ current situation might not be much worse than if he were under center.
