Major Transfer to West Coast Close to Completion!

The 18-Month Plan to Sell Swan for $1.6 Million a Year

Chad Warner, a superstar from Sydney, is being actively pursued by Fremantle, who is also closely monitoring the 2024 trade window in case they want to make a big move in 2025.

The 23-year-old has put off talks about signing a new contract with the top-ranked Swans because his current one expires at the end of the next campaign. Warner said, “I am really enjoying my time in Sydney, and eventually, my girlfriend Alice and I will decide what we want for our future,” following the announcement of this decision.

The West Australian native is anticipated to make a concerted effort to return home, and both West Coast and Fremantle are expected to put up a fight to get him there. However, the Dockers may have the best combination of draft assets and a competitive team.

“There’s a lot of attention on his contract situation. As a WA boy, Fremantle is clearly excited about the possibility of acquiring Chad Warner,” Clark mentioned on Fox Footy’s Midweek Tackle. He questioned how Sydney could manage to keep all their superstar midfielders, including Blakey, Mills, Heeney, Gulden, and Warner, who is emerging as one of the top players in the game.

“The salary cap has increased by 29 or 30 percent, giving clubs more flexibility to be aggressive,” Clark noted. “With Sydney’s financial constraints, can they keep all their stars? While Warner loves the club, homesickness might influence his decision, especially with Fremantle’s attractive offer.”
