After the New York Giants kicked off Week 4 on Thursday Night Football, they enjoyed a few extra days to watch the rest of the games unfold. One major story was the Kansas City Chiefs losing star wide receiver Rashee Rice to a knee injury during their matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. With Rice likely sidelined for an extended period, the Chiefs find themselves thin on offense.
Could the Giants be bracing for a call from Brett Veach soon?
There may be a trade between the two teams, according to NFL insider Peter Schrager. He said that Jalin Hyatt, a wide receiver in his second year with the Giants, might be a candidate for the Chiefs to replace Rice. Schrager said that considering the Chiefs’ current circumstances, it is “at least worth calling on” Hyatt. It would not be the first time the Chiefs went after a Giants player; they had already traded for Kadarius Toney, a former first-round pick.
Hyatt has also been linked to trade rumors earlier this season. Despite denying reports that he asked for a trade and expressing his commitment to the Giants, his limited playing time—just 51 snaps with three targets and no catches—raises questions about his future. Daniel Jones used to favor Hyatt during training camp, but these days, Hyatt is just an afterthought.
As the Giants sit at 1-3, it’s natural to wonder if they might become sellers. Could Hyatt be on his way out? We’ll have to see if the Chiefs reach out once more.
