Matthew Stafford has become one of the most talked-about names on the trade market as the Rams’ 2024 season spirals downward. A two-time Pro Bowler, 36, has been giving it his all despite a lackluster supporting cast.

Stafford is the face of the Rams and the first to lead them to a Super Bowl in Los Angeles, so it is hard to see them trading him in the middle of the season. Still, he is an outstanding quarterback who can lead a formidable team to championship success.

For the Rams this season though, that seems improbable. Would a change of scenery in Miami, guided by Mike McDaniel, change his course?

If the Dolphins show interest, the Rams should consider their offer. Stafford is not someone they should just let go of because he represents their present, not their future. His ability to influence a season is rare, especially mid-year.

The Rams should consider making that trade if the Dolphins are willing to part with him in exchange for a first-round pick. Moving on from Stafford could make the team even worse, especially with Jimmy Garoppolo back from suspension and Stetson Bennett serving as the third-string quarterback. How much worse could they get, though, at 1-4? It could pave the way for the number one pick in the NFL Draft in 2025, which could be viewed as a chance rather than a disappointment.
