Collingwood has delisted injury-prone tall player Nathan Kreuger, along with midfielder Jack Bytel and forward Josh Eyre.
Kreuger, 25, has only played 13 AFL matches since making his Collingwood debut in 2022. He joined the club from Geelong, where he made just two senior appearances after arriving in 2018. This season, he has struggled with hamstring and calf issues in addition to two serious shoulder injuries that have plagued his time with the Magpies.
Former Saint Bytel was signed by the Pies during the preseason supplemental selection period, and he played in seven AFL games this season. He was acquired last summer. He had played in 22 matches for St Kilda last year before being delisted.
Due to a serious hamstring injury, Eyre, who also joined over the summer, was unable to play for Collingwood as a senior. He had been at Essendon but did not play any AFL games for either club.
Pies list manager Justin Leppitsch commented, “Decision-making at this time of year is always tough, and we thank each player for their contributions to our club. Although their time with us was short, Jack and Josh brought value to our VFL and AFL programs, and we appreciate their dedication. Nathan’s determination to overcome numerous injuries and remain committed to his football deserves recognition. On behalf of everyone at the club, we wish all players the best and hope they continue to strive for their football potential.”
In August, the Magpies also delisted backup ruck Aiden Begg, while forward Joe Richards and defender John Noble left during the recent trade period. Additionally, Nathan Murphy and Josh Carmichael both retired due to concussion-related issues.
