We hate to say, “We told you so,” but it’s frustrating to debunk the fanciful reports and rumors linking Alvin Kamara to the Dallas Cowboys. Over the weekend, misleading headlines combined the two, but recent developments have put an end to that speculation. Despite ongoing trade suggestions, including one from Robert Griffin III urging Jerry Jones to contact the Saints about Kamara, we quickly dismissed these claims. Griffin’s idea gained traction, leading to false reports claiming inside sources were confirming a potential trade.
A young reporter even claimed Kamara was requesting a trade and that the Cowboys were interested—none of which was true. Since February, we’ve outlined Dallas’s strategy to hold off on major moves, focusing instead on building for the future and preserving salary cap space. Bringing in 29-year-old running back with a hefty salary simply doesn’t align with that plan, as Jerry Jones has repeatedly stated.
Kamara himself clarified on Twitter, “I don’t request a trade,” calling the rumors lies. Shortly after, the reporter deleted his tweet. Now, Kamara is back in the spotlight with a new two-year contract extension with the Saints, effectively squashing yet another round of baseless Cowboys trade speculation.
