New and damaging accusations against Christian Horner are anticipated to come to light this week, along with the revelation of the identity of the female Red Bull staff member central to the controversy.
Despite Red Bull’s exoneration of Horner following an investigation into allegations of misconduct, leaked texts and images related to the probe emerged just before the start of the new Formula 1 season.
During the Bahrain F1 season opener, Horner displayed a defiant stance, supported by his wife, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. However, despite efforts to move forward, pressure on Horner is mounting, especially after public calls from Jos Verstappen, father of Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, for Horner’s dismissal.
Jos Verstappen has even privately suggested that his son might consider leaving Red Bull if Horner remains, following a reported argument between Verstappen Sr. and Horner after qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
While footage of the argument has surfaced, the content of their discussion remains undisclosed. Additionally, BusinessF1 Magazine is reportedly set to publish a 19-page investigation into the case, including a series of damaging new allegations and insights into the power dynamics within Red Bull.
Notably, the article identifies the female employee with whom Horner had contact. However, sources close to Horner and Red Bull have dismissed the article as containing inaccuracies.
The accuser, speaking through a close associate, expressed dissatisfaction with the situation, feeling unfairly targeted and criticized.
The ongoing scandal shows no signs of abating as the F1 season progresses to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Although Jos Verstappen will not be present in Jeddah due to prior commitments, Max Verstappen’s victory in Bahrain has emboldened Horner, who affirmed his commitment to leading the team.
Horner stated, “Yes, absolutely. I wouldn’t be here otherwise. Obviously, it’s not been pleasant, the unwanted attention, but the focus is now very much on the cars.”
