“When we arrived back in Brisbane on Tuesday, Walters mentioned that Brendan seemed to be in good spirits after the game, but his condition is now in the hands of the doctor. He’s traveled with the team and appears fine,” Walters stated.

“Brendan will undergo the necessary protocols for head injury assessments to determine his eligibility to play.

“Despite the challenges of adjusting our lineup on the edge, including moving one of our top middles, Carrigan, I felt we performed admirably to keep pace with the Roosters. As coaches, we’ll reassess our strategies and ensure we make the right decisions for round two.”

Walters acknowledged the options available to the Broncos, with Jaiyden Hunt and Xavier Willison offering versatility.

“We’re considering a lineup shuffle,” Walters confirmed. “Jaiyden Hunt is capable in that position, and Xavier has shown promise during the preseason. We have several viable alternatives.

“We definitely felt Patty’s absence in the middle, and losing a key player early due to concussion is never ideal.”

Despite some shortcomings in attack against the Roosters, the Broncos exhibited resilience in defense, particularly on their tryline.

“After reviewing the game on the plane, I’ve realized that things are never as dire as they seem nor as stellar as they appear,” Walters remarked.

“We’ll be ready in a few weeks when we face Souths, aiming to bring out the best in our boys, especially at Suncorp.

“While the stadium in Las Vegas was impressive, there’s truly no place like home.”
